The world through a photographic lens
giving my best efforts to pretend
that sad realities will never break in
this frame has no notion how fragile it is

The world doesn’t slow down when you sleep
Nightmares drown dreams that sink too deep
It’s pessimism versus blind belief
Pushing pebbles up a staircase too steep

That sad scholar keeps his frown
He never stopped and took the time to look around
Hoping his lost memories will never be found
His tunnel vision whispered out loud

Still it’s too easy for thoughts to slip back into the past
He’s clinging on to good times gone too fast
Lacking that satisfaction too quick to catch
His superstition masked

I see you there with your
photographic vision
Just can't help but envision
There might be a situation
In which you would be better served
By a grander perspective
Because this world is filled with
Angles and tangles of lives
That can only survive
If some time is spent
Unwinding thought rambles
Through dialogue
Releasing angers
But laughter too dude
Because we've gotta
Get in the mood
For revealing our truth
Finding momentary proof
That we are all the universe
So, put your camera down
And take a look around
See if somebody else is making sounds
And maybe take a listen
For a least a few seconds
Get the drift of their current expression
You don't always need
To focus your aperture
Sometimes a moment
Is best in the moment
And must evade capture
We are always awaiting
Anticipating the rapture

Poorly fueled fires are fickle friends
Often too toxic to tend
Poor man he can’t see his perspective
Is fixed in one photographic lens
